IT Project Manager
FABCON employee for 12.5 years
If there’s one thing most FABCON employees love, it’s the exposure they get to every other facet of the business, and the opportunity to grow.
That’s a highlight for IT project manager Sara Corwin. A FABCON employee for more than 12 years, Corwin likes how much she has learned about the pre-cast concrete world that doesn’t pertain directly to her role.
We asked Corwin a few questions about her job and what she likes about FABCON. Here is what she told us:
“I am probably more of a business process analyst than anything. I work with our main software package that we use for tracking transaction activity. I interface with users and work directly with outsourced consultants. My main focus is to deal with large technology projects and enhancements. I help push those projects through successfully and on budget.”
Best part of working at FABCON:
“This is my sixth position in 12 and a half years and I love the exposure that I’ve gotten to our various departments within the company. It’s given me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and really work in a diverse set of business areas. I like that this company focuses on continuous improvement and provides many internal opportunities.”
What I appreciate most about FABCON:
“I am pushed to use my talents every day in my career. I am also pushed to discover talents I didn’t even know I had. However, a work/life balance is huge for me. I have 3 kids and FABCON allows me to be a career mom who can still make my children a priority. That flexibility makes me a better employee.”
Why I would encourage others to work at FABCON
“This is a wonderful place to work if you’re looking to figure out what aspect of business fits you best. There is a lot of opportunity through exposure to all different types of department activities. Safety and continuous improvement are a large priority. Also, they listen to you here. Being able to voice your opinion is important.”
“We are in a state of technology improvement and there are a lot of very exciting projects happening around FABCON,” adds Corwin. “It’s fun to be creative and to be in a fast-paced environment.”
In her spare time, Corwin enjoys spending time at the family cabin, games and attending her kids’ sporting events. A quintessential Minnesota mom, Corwin has two mini mites and spends many winter weekends at the rink.
