Director of Quality Systems
FABCON employee for 15 years
Linda Whitmore couldn’t have guessed when she started as an administrative assistant 15 years ago that she would elevate to a Director role. She says she’s not the only one to be afforded opportunities at FABCON.
“People who like a fast-paced environment do well here and they’re rewarded with new challenges,” says Whitmore.
She says the leadership team has emphasized culture because they want to make FABCON a destination employer.
We asked Whitmore a few questions about her job and what she likes about FABCON. Here’s what she told us:
My daily duties:“I am part of Corporate Management, so I interact with the Quality Managers and teams from all of the plants. I am involved in product and quality improvement, people development, and customer interactions. As part of the senior management team, I also get to participate in a lot of financial and strategic discussions.”Best part of working at FABCON:“I love the people I get to work with. We are constantly looking for ways to improve. For example, we have been working to improve our products and now have added many high-end finishes and features. We face many challenges every day: from meeting customer expectations, to communicating what the customer wants to the internal teams, then finding ways to measure what’s acceptable. There are always new ways to improve which makes for very interesting and challenging work.”What I appreciate most about FABCON:“I appreciate the opportunity that FABCON provides. While I was working in myfirst role here, the company paid for me to finish my college degree. From there, I was given as much opportunity as I could handle. I have been the Director of Project Management, the Director of Corporate ISO and the Director of Quality Assurance.”Why I would encourage others to work at FABCON“FABCON is a busy, hard working environment and a high-energy place. We push ourselves to continually improve. We work hard but we know how to laugh hard, too.”
In her spare time, Linda enjoys spending time with her three grown children, three grandchildren, her siblings and their families. “I adore all of them so we get together a lot,” she says. She also loves to read, garden and travel.
