Ernie Wargo

Plant Manager

FABCON employee for 14 years

Plant Manager Ernie Wargo compares his days at FABCON to snowflakes: “No two are alike!”

“It’s kind of like facing a pitcher for the first time,” says Wargo. “You never quite know what’s coming at you, but that’s what makes it fun.”

Wargo worked at Sony for 22 years prior to his work at FABCON and thought he’d never work with a better bunch of people. Then he met his current team who he says is just like family.

We asked Wargo a few questions about his job and what he likes about FABCON. Here’s what he told us:

My daily duties:“I’m responsible for just about everything here including the yard, maintenance, production, safety, quality and environmental issues. I help get my employees through planning, project launch and through any challenges they might face. I have a lot of meetings and a lot of responsibilities but that’s what makes it exciting.”

Best part of working at FABCON:

“My team. I think I saw this on a poster once but it applies: ‘Individually they’re talented but together they’re legendary.’ Some of us have been here 15 years together and others for 8 or more – that’s a great nucleus. We can hammer it out in a meeting and then all go to lunch together. We’re really a family.”

What I appreciate most about FABCON:

“In addition to my team, I appreciate the opportunity FABCON has given me. My family (Patti, Patrick, Kelly and Jax) is what drives me to do what I do. FABCON had faith in me 15 years ago and I don’t intend to let them down. We had some rough years because we were new but we persevered and now we’re doing well because we didn’t give up.”

Why I would encourage others to work at FABCON

“It truly is a great place to work and though we work hard, it’s fun. We all have our goals and responsibilities, but we’re not afraid to joke around.”

Wargo says anyone willing to be patient, listen, learn and work together will find opportunities and success at FABCON.

When Ernie is not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife go antiquing or he takes in ball games and concerts with his son. In the fall/winter, he likes to hunt and ice fish with his son and co-workers.
